The Raanana Municipality will mark the Tu Bishvat holiday with the planting of thousands of trees across the city. The tree-planting is part of the extensive municipal activity in the field of sustainability and environmental protection. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, which is known to be an important means of reducing greenhouse gases.
Tuesday, 26.1.10, 15:00: Joint tree
planting ceremony for the city’s youth organizations and movements at
the corner of Weizman and Yair Stern Streets in the Lev Hapark
Neighborhood. The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and
Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub (Culture, Youth and Leisure Division). As
part of the ceremony, 30 different saplings will be planted in the open
area near the Agam School.
Wednesday, 27.1.10, 17:00:
Tu Bishvat Event for the Special Needs Community at the Municipal Youth
Center in Gan Hanesi’im. The event will be organized by youth active
in a volunteer project and it will include contests, arts and crafts
and dancing, in the spirit of the holiday.

Wednesday, 27.1.10, 17:00: Tu Bishvat activity at Meir Hospital, with medical clown trainees.
Thursday, 28.1.10, 19:00:
Tu Bishvat Seder at the Municipal Youth Center, initiated by the
‘Entertainment Troup’ volunteer project. The youth will play
instruments and sing and participate in special tasks for the holiday.
Friday, 29.1.10: Planting ceremonies will
be held at all the city schools and preschools. During the day,
students at Ziv Elementary School, together with a group of people with
special needs, will organize a tree planting ceremony in the Small Forest, where they will plant 70 saplings.
Monday-Thursday, 25-28.1.10: Intergenerational planting for students and seniors.
The Rasco neighborhood golden age club will host students from Miftan
School ,the senior citizens daycare center and the Hashachar and Migdal
Golden Age Clubs will host students from Yeshivat Bnei Akiva and
Yachdav School will host the Kiryat Sharet Golden Age Club.
