At
the ‘L’Chaim’ concert held in Raanana and broadcast live on the internet,
$30,000 was raised for the 5-year old who is in critical need of surgery to
save her life
Hundreds of people flocked to Raanana’s HaMishkan Center for Music and Arts to attend the concert to help save the life of 5-year old Ariel Akta of Raanana, who is in urgent need of surgery in Toronto, in order to save her life.
The concert included 60 top Israeli classical musicians, who gathered together on one stage. This was an impressive musical event, and all the musicians volunteered their services to help the musical married couple, both trumpet players, Limor and Tamir Akta, to raise funds to save their young daughter.
This is the first
concert in Israel
to be broadcast live on the internet and enabled classical music aficionados to
listen and watch the musicians directly, without the cost of a ticket and
without sitting in the hall. Flixwagon Ltd. volunteered to transmit the
live concert on the website: www.concert4ariel.com.
Approximately 12,000
viewers, who watched the live broadcast, sent an SMS for Ariel, and a sum of
$30,000 was raised for Ariel’s surgery.
Ariel Akta suffers from a rare structural problem in her cerebral cortex and
requires brain surgery to save her life. This complex surgery can
only be performed at a specific hospital in Toronto, and its estimated cost is
$350,000. The hospital staff in Toronto
that is scheduled to operate on Ariel also watched the concert.
The concert, hosted by Yoav Kutner, was attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Orit Sayad Yitzchaki ad Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub (director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division), as well as MK Zeev Bielski, and the Directors General of the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Culture.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “Israeli society is known primarily for its ability to enlist on behalf of those in need. This social strength is what has led us all to enlist on behalf of Ariel, together with the best of Israel’s musicians, who have dedicated their musical sounds to saving the life of Ariel.”
