Mayor Nahum Hofree: “I invite Raanana residents and guests of the city to join me at this experiential marathon”
The city of Raanana is preparing to greet over 10,000 runners from across Israel, who will participate in the 21st Raanana Marathon, to be held on Friday, 19.3.10 and will include three heats.
This year, for the first time, it was decided to change the marathon’s route and include Raanana’s main street, Ahuza, to enable all of the city’s residents to take part and enjoy the athletic experience. The starting point will be on Derech Hapark, near the Mishan Senior Residential Home and from them it will pass along the following route: Weizman, Yair Stern, Derech Hachaklaim (Kfar Nahman), Keren Hayesod, Hahistadrut, Borochov and Ahuza Streets. The finish line is at Raanana Park.
The Raanana Marathon is the largest of its kind in Israel, with a national reputation and is a unique marathon in which famous professional runners, Israeli champions in long distance running, men and women, and thousands of soldiers, police officers, students, sports associations and seniors take part alongside Raanana residents.
This year, the Marathon includes three heats:
The Nir Nahari 3 K Popular Marathon – will leave at 9:30 from Derech Hapark Street and surround the area of Raanana Park.
The 10K Hand Bicycle Marathon for the Disabled – will leave at 10:00 from Derech Hapark Street along a course that includes Weizman, Yair Stern, Derech Hachaklaim, Kfar Nahman, Keren Hayesod, Hahistadrut, Borochov, Ahuza, Sderot Yerushalayim with the finish line at Raanana Park.

The 10K Competitive Marathon, for individuals and groups: – will leave at 10:15 from Derech Hapark Street along a course that includes Weizman, Yair Stern, Derech Hachaklaim, Kfar Nahman, Keren Hayesod, Hahistadrut, Borochov, Ahuza, Sderot Yerushalayim with the finish line at Raanana Park.

There will be no registration for the competitive heat on the day of the marathon.
All the runners who complete the race will receive certificates of participation and medals. Participants in the competitive 10K marathon will receive a tee-shirt. Winners will be awarded trophies and valuable prizes.
